Happy New Month,
We are on the verge of my favorite season and I can’t wait for fall to officially arrive and for NYFW preview! New York Fashion Week is the Oscars of the fashion world! It officially runs Sept. 8-15, as the world of fashion (editors, reporters, photographers, bloggers, celebs and the like) descend on the fashion mecca (NYC) and showcase the trends for the upcoming year.
To celebrate pre-fall I will be featuring a September edit of trends and styles that I think are essential for your wardrobe as we transition from summer to fall. Today’s inaugural post will feature a street style staple, athleisure.
Athleisure fashion is clothing designed for workouts and other athletic activities worn in other settings. Athleisure outfits include yoga pants, tights, and leggings that “look like athletic wear” and are characterized as “fashionable. The legging or workout wear is dressed up to give more of a street edge look. The idea behind the trend is the opportunity to multitask one’s wardrobe without sacrificing style. Today’s blog post will focus on sporty luxe, which is an off shoot of athleisure fashion. Sporty luxe is the embellishing of practical and comfortable athletic wear and translating that look to everyday street style! Outfits are created out of singular or multiple sporty pieces and are remixed with dressier pieces.
My first must for my Pre Fall September Edit blog post is the track pant. Track pants are not just for the gym anymore. It’s possible to go to the gym and then to the office wearing the same look, by styling it with some edgier styled pieces. The trick is to add some street edge to the sporty luxe look by styling with the right key pieces. For a casual look, try sneakers and your favorite basic tee. For something more polished, add a pair of heels, a statement blazer or a crop top or leather jacket. When it comes to adding accessories, the more embellished the better.
To pull off my sporty luxe look I paired my track pants with a midriff white blouse, both from ShopStyle Collective. A basic white blouse works well when transitioning the track pant look into fall. When looking for the perfect track pant style, look for tailored and wider leg styles that allow the addition of heels. Casual looks with sneakers are cute but I find that the higher the heel, the edgier the look for this athleisure trend! Add a pair of track pants to your off duty look for this must have trend!
